At NEF, we believe empowerment must be backed by knowledge. Our research captures the realities, challenges, and opportunities faced by women, seniors, and youth across India, and translates them into actionable insights. Each study is designed to inform program design, shape policy conversations, and strengthen advocacy for inclusive growth. By building this body of evidence, we aim to not only empower individuals but also influence systems — ensuring that India’s journey to Viksit Bharat is rooted in both aspiration and understanding.
This study explores the realities of women micro-entrepreneurs and self-help groups (SHGs) in semi-urban and rural Pune. It examines barriers such as access to finance, markets, and digital adoption, while also highlighting opportunities to unlock potential through skilling, mentoring, and network support. The insights are designed to inform program design and policy discussions, strengthening women’s role as economic contributors and community leaders.
